2006 build date
Hi,
Regarding your getting a build date on your order of a 2006 RT Magnum.
I ordered a 2005 RT on Dec 6, 2004. I received a notification near the end of February that my car was in build status D-1 and that it would be a 2006 model. They estimated I would have it by the first or second week in April.
I cannot say what is going on with the production of the RT Magnums. They stopped orders on the 2005 models around mid January. Supposedly the 2006 production will start April 1. I can’t understand why mine will be a 2006 and I will be getting it just after production is slated to start.

original order was 1-29-05 for an '05 rt but the was rejected one week later, and i re-ordered an '06 on 2-15-05. i wasn't able to get the cold weather package though, and they changed the name of the interior colors. i do remember that the '06s have more horse power than the '05s.
Could you give a little more info on your 2006 order. What were the color changes, and what did they say about more horsepower.
I was told that there would be no difference between the 2005 and the first 2006’s off the assembly line.

the '05s dark slate/med slate gray is now called for '06 dark/light slate grey. the dk/med combo in '05 is supposed to be the same as the dk/lt combo for the '06. i know they were different in '05, but now there is no color called dk/med slate grey for interior colors.
not everything is the same. i couldn't get the cold weather group (ADE) on the '06 that i originally ordered on the '05. and the '06s have a lot more options like the rear dvd and flat folding passenger front seat.
i don't remember the new horse power rating, but i was surprised by it. maybe someone knows.

06 hemi rating in the Magnum RT and 300C stays the same as 05. 340 hp, 390 tq.

i don't agree with bob on the horsepower being 340 for the '06 magnum. i think it was 350 or 355. i will have to go back to the dealer and sit back down at their computer with the salesman again to see for sure.
It has been a long time since I have seen a factory production engine tha put out one horsepower per cubic inch of displacement. If th 2006 Magnum engine, in fact does this, It would be a big news item.

one horsepower & more per cubic inch is so common for the last 20 years ever since the '86 grand national. but no one cares about a 200 hp 3 liter mercury sable. heck, no one cared about the 350 hp '04 pontiac GTOs. the '05 GTOs have 400 hp but who cares? ever since fuel injection, one hp per cubic inch is easy to obtain.
