Jsg 660,
Does it downshift while you are accelerating, or when you are coating to a stop. If I let the pedal up, the car will slowly downshift automatically, to help reduce speed. But if you are on the freeway doing 65 MPH and let off the gas and it downshifts to 3rd, that's a problem. Like you said, take that sucker in and have them look at it. As far as a lemon, most cars have minor issues with them, and is tolerated to a point. Here in California, you have to have your car in the shop for more that 30 days within the first 18 months to qualify for the Lemon Law. If it takes the dealer more than a month to fix it, then you got a lemon. More than likely, your Magnum will get a 3 day vacation at the luxuorious Dodge Auto Spa and Relaxation area, the Service Bay. One day to diagnose, one day to wait on parts and one day to repair. Good luck with that...

I had a "minor" problem with my trans. at 200miles. I knew it wasn't serious because it had worked flawlessly before....and has since. It turned out to be that the torque converter would not unlock. When coming to a stop it was like a stick without putting your foot on the clutch when still in gear. Also wouldn't start to go again. Put it in gear was like starting in 3rd gear and it would die. After the 3rd time it went into limp home mode and I was able to drive it home. Dealer fixed it in a week. I didn't mind since they gave me a brand new SXT to drive as a loaner. That also told me I made the right decision by buying the first RT in town. Other than the looks...a totally different vehicle.
