Default Some insight on the magnum?

I might be able to pick up an 07 hemi magnum pretty cheap and was wondering what to look out for as far as problems go. I have a 98 Dakota R/T and i'm kinda worried about picking up another dodge after the drive train problems i had on my dakota.

The biggest problem that has rose about about these cars is a small part that breaks in the shifter that locks it in the park position. The part is plastic and just ends up breaking. It is not the actual tranny though, it is just a safety part located in the shift box in the cabin area.

The good news is that it isn't that expensive to fix and I think there is an aftermarket billet made part that is a little stronger that the part can be replaced with. There is a thread over in the Charger section as a sticky if you want to read about it.

Other than that, the problems that have been showing up as far as what i have been reading is not specific to one thing. The FM radio goes out, tire alignment problems, things like that. As far as the engine, as long as it has been taken care of, you should be fine there as well.

Thumbs up thanks.

After being on my third rear end and second tranny on my 98 r/t and having less than 70,000 miles on it. I had to see if there were any major flaws. thanks for clearing it up.

Well,
I've had my 08' Magnum since Nov. 07' and haven't had any problems with it, but make sure you check the front end out the high mileage Magnums are finding problems with the ball joints so make sure if there's any shake at high speeds you have them checked out...
You will notice the lack of vision ( at redlights) from a truck, because of the low roofline, but I wouldn't trade mine for anything, I just love the looks and the performance I get....

Sometimes called the "pink thingy" the billet part can be found here http://www.custombilletstore.com/product_p/1028.htm
Haven't had any major problems with my '05 yet, and hope not to (knocking on wood).

Thanks all! Getting stranded where I live can be a really bad thing. I'm in the desert at the gateway to death valley you ya'll get what I'm saying. I'll be ordering that billet piece to replace that pink plastic part this week! I liked those instructions on that link as well!

Again THANKS!
