blah...
I know you aren't supposed to let this stuff get to you, but a local dealer is selling a "one at this price" 2005 Magnum RT for $3000 under MSRP... I bought mine about 2 months ago at MSRP and maybe feel like I didn't wheel and deal hard enough. I will just have to keep telling myself easy come, easy go!
Look at the bright side, you've had the pleasure of driving your Magnum for all this time! Never look back and say "what if", you'll never get anything done. It's like playing the same lotto numbers all your life and never hitting then the one week you don't play, your numbers come in. Point is, don't look!
The same thing happened when I bought a PT Cruiser a couple of years ago....when I bought mine they had a few thousand dollar rebate ...then you had these poor guys in 2001 who payed way over sticker...well I traded that PT for the Magnum I have now and of course the dealer got sticker fo the Magnum...but hey I dont care the car has been a great deal of fun so what the heck!!
It's probably a result of the age of the car on his lot and more importantly in his inventory. "Floor Plan" is the interest that a dealer pays on his inventory. The longer the car remains unsold in that inventory, the more interest the dealer pays. At a certain point, a dealer will take a shorter profit or even a loss to get rid of a particular car that hasn't sold to avoid acruing any more interest.
You can bet that the Magnum that is being offered is probably not a highly desired color with highly desired options or it wouldn't be there that long. It may also be a 2005 while 2006's are being released.
Don't beat yourself up over whether or not you "tried" hard enough to get a good deal. If you felt good when you made the deal, and you're enjoying what you bought.......then you DID make a good deal.
ENJOY!!
