I always brake short and then pull up slowly to the light so that I can just see the bottom light, or the green light.
I do that too - but for a different reason...brake rotors.

Had a customer once lament about warping rotors on his little cheesy-mobile within 10K miles, so I told him what my Dad told me - stop 2-3 car lengths short, roll r e a l slow until either you get there, or the light turns. That'll spread the heat uniformly around the rotor, rather than clamping the rotor tight with a really hot brake pad and sending all that heat into one spot. Once he started doing that, he never warped another rotor.

That lightinsight deal looks pretty cool, I might do that even though as another short guy (5'7" on a good day) I usually don't have a problem with seeing traffic lights.

I drive ahead of my car, so Im very ez on brakes. Almost every car Ive recently owned has gotten 60-75 K on set of pads.

man i think this guy was talking about usen a mirrior like the OLD vettes had on the dash that looked up sorta to see the lights
not this funky crap they make today were you can see your dash info on the windshield
hey if you got a sunroof pull back the screen and get up on the light otherwise stop far enuff away from the light to see it or get a dash mirror it should work i have thought about it since day one but i usually set back from the light or use the sunroof
