ORIGINAL: Redhouse

What about running all new wires for the Stereo System? Your friend runs a shop he should be able to run all new wires. That's what I do if I couldn't find the problem and it's cheaper then a new car.

Redhouse

Already done that. Ran comepletely new power and speaker wires.. same thing.

I had the complete stereo system outside of the car behind it, and only had power runing to the battery (and ground) and if I disconnect the car's +, there's no noise. but as soon as I connect the + lead for the car to the battery, there's the noise again (while the car's on that is.. it can be in On or just in ACC and the noise is there)

Here's a video of my noise. Keep in mind this is just the low side of the noise... The amp has an always-on low pass filter and the highest I could set it was about 300hz I think (it was dark and I don't remember off the top of my head). When the regular speakers are powered by an amp it's MUCH more digital sounding. You can hear a pattern of clicks. This was taken with the car sitting in ACC, not running.

It's dark, can't see anything, but you can hear it. I'd say THAT sounds like just alternator whine. but the car's not on. And it's not speed / rpm dependent. You get the same amount of noise if the car is and if you rev it.

There's a funky digital noise as I'm coming out of the back of the car and before I move back in on the woofer.. .that's not the sound I'm talking about, that came from the vid cap process.

Hey Red,

Thanks for the compliments. I must admit, without breaking my arm patting myself on the back, it did turn out. If funny you said That is a cleaner install then many pro's I know would do. , I was at the local wednesday show and the manager of the stereo shop that had the Eclipse Magnum stopped by my Mag about 5-6 times. I was getting a lil worried that maybe he was casing out the car hahaha. I finally talked to him and he said the same thing about liking the clean simple install. His jaw dropped when I told him that I did it all in my apt with just a jigsaw. I am going to have to find some plastic polish or replace the lexan. I didnt realize that the backing of the carpeting was so course. It scratched the hell out of it. I now have a 1/4" pad to put under the carpet. Well its an learning experience.

ANGRY PICKLE.... Hey man. I just had my car done this past weekend..(pics to follow) and I asked the gusy there about your problem. They immediately said that it was not a wiring issue such as running wires next to the power wire, but instead a component issue. They said that some components such as a pioneer head unit and a rockford fosgate amp are not compatable. They had a list of things that didnt' work together b/c they produced this excess noise from being incompatable. If it wasn't that then the amp is the issue. They said that certain amps output their speaker wires differently and almost right next to each other causing noise. I would recommend calling these gusy and asking them. They owe me since I just gave them business plus they are super guys and are willing to help anyone. Here is the number

Soundcraft Car Stereo - 860-447-8443.... Ask for Tony. Tell them Chris Armstrong mentioned them. Here is their website too.

hope this helps.

Thanks for the info... however...

one of the combinations I tired while trying to get this to work was a sony head unit with a sony amplifier Still noise...

I tried with this pioneer headunit an autotek amp, concept amp, sony amp, and a orion amp.. all had the same noise.

Just another shot in the dark here. I wasn't able to get your video to work, so I don't know exactly what the sound is. But do you have any other accesories non factory in the car? I will get a clicking noise from my Nextel phone when it is in the car. Actually radio interference. Just an outside the box opinion?

**** i have a pioneer fosgate combo, but my system is ran by a 4ch powering a sub and 4 speakers, no noise however i think i remember having some noise when i had a second fosgate amp instaled. if you have a 4ch amp around try hooking it up to tour speakers and sub, its probobly not going to put out as much power but its a start if it dosnt whine. also you could try a ground loop noise reducer i think it gose hooked up on the ground cable to reduce the noice. im no pro like some of these guys but i got job done on all 4 of my cars including the magnum!!

dont know if you ever figured this out but my magnum sxt did the same thing. I grounded the rca's and the noise is gone, never had a problem with that in the impalla i took the radio out of. I am running polk db 6x9's in the rear, 6.5 polk db componets in the doors, 3 jl audio 12w6's, and a us amps md2d sub amp and a us amps md42 powering the full range speakers.
