Strange problem when cold
Starting in the fall when the weather turned colder I have had a strange problem when starting my Magnum with the 5.7L Hemi. For 3-20 minutes (depending how cold it is) when I put the car in gear (automatic tranny) two strange things happen. 1) the radiator fan starts to run and 2) when I drive the car, it will not shift and stays is first gear. Once it warms up, it runs like there was never anything wrong. Does anyone have any ideas about what is going on?
I have had one of the same problems this winter that you wrote about. The auto tranny not going into gear unless warmed up. I haven't taken it in to get checked out yet, but since the weather has now warmed up the problem has seemed to disappear (knock on wood). Since I am now unemployed I am hoping the problem doesn't return till I can find work.......
I get the same thing in my 06 3.5 Magnum. Except I have bucking of the car when it is cold. In the warm weather nothing. It runs fine from the second it starts.
The dealer told me that it is the fluids needing to warm up and the electronics not picking up on it.
