Default Help.......Speaker install

Hey all,

I'm putting some new speakers in the Magnum today. Got the new JL 6" x 9" speakers in the back no problem. The trouble came with the doors. Trying to get those door panels off to put my new JL 6.5" door speakers in. Does anyone know how to get those panels off? 356Magnum, are you reading this?

Cheers,
Lyle

Never mind. I found a "How To" on another site.

I going to post the info anyway for anyone else that wants it.

1) roll the window down
2) There are 4 screws(easy to figure out)
3) 3( i think) plastic plugs. The easiest way to get them out is to use the key and push on the center. This way you wont pust the center post all the way in and have it rattling in the door and have to pay $.60 a piece for a new one, like I did. (later got the old center post out)
4) There is a screw under a lil plastic rectangle. I took a knife and popped it out. Be careful, one side has a tab and slot configuration.
5) As you pull the door cover towards you and up, there is the interior door handle rod that has a lil plastic retainer. Rotate the retainer so the door is free
6) Disconnect the window switches.

And there you go

I will try to take some pictures tommorrow showing the steps. I have been meaning to do this for awhile.

No prob dude,

There's a step-by-step over at LX forums.

However, I'm really regretting taking my door panels off. No matter how careful I tried to be, I managed to break all 6 of the plastic (tree) plugs. And the inner push (tree) plugs weren't any better. I was unable to remove any of them, so the top of my door panel is loose. My cars goes in for servicing on Monday, so I'm going to get them to hang the panel correctly and replace the 6 broken (visible) plugs. I'm sure it'll be no big deal to them, but it sure has caused me some unneeded stress.

That's one area that I'm going to leave alone from now on.

Hey Lyle, once you're done with that, put some 3.5" in the dash. You'll be amazed at the difference. (Assuming you don't currently have dash speakers)

Yeah, that's the next step. I'm doing my stereo in baby-steps (to keep the wife happy). Had a JL sub (and amp) installed a couple weeks ago. And just put JL's in the doors and back. Next will be some JL's in the dash. Then slowly after that will be to start amping-up the rear and door speakers. Last thing will be the head unit.

It's all a process, but I'll get there.

Cheers,
Lyle
