Default mileage????

Desides the A/C issues, hows your gas mileage? My 06' R/T with now 3000miles on it gets 14.8 city average (light footed driving) and just came off a round trip to Baltimore and averaged 21.6 highway. Neither near what the sticker said. Anyone think a KN would help?

Hey, A/C does suck up alot of gas. but on the same token my mileage has gotten better the more i have driven it. I used to be that way with mileage. I am up to 12000 miles on my car and now get 17 city (lightfooted) and 22-24 highway depending on how far/flat/straight.

Ahh the joys of hotrods haha. I have hear a couple of people say the get 1-2 mpg increase on the CAI. I traded in my 11/15mpg '02 Dodge Ram for the SXT. Main reason was gas milage. I have gotten 20/30.89mpg and never regretted it.

Your car is still new and tight, wait until you put some miles on, it should get better mileage.

I have 11,000 miles on my RT and usually get better than the 17-25 on the sticker.

I do have a cold air intake and Flowmasters on.

I am seeing 20.0 according to the computer for all around driving. Even attached a small trailer that lilkley weighed about 1000 lbs and the milage was about the same. Though I wish there was a way to extend the window this is calculated over. The same reading in my 00 Sebring seems to use a longer window and the number is much less variable.

Some tricks I have been using include, adjusting the AC to operate at 76 instead of the ice chest cold others in my vehicle may prefer and allowing speed to swing a bit more as I up and down hills. With a desired speed of 72 mph, I'll let it run up to 75 or so down hill and down to 67 or so up longer hills.

Recently, I have noticed that on some down grades that I would consider steep, I have to add a bit of throttle to keep speed. More so than can be attributed to the brick type shape. I have had one wheel bearing replaced, so I suspect I have picked a bit more rolling drag. Might even be tire presure.

Charlie, what psi are you using to get to 23.5 before your mods?

Jax - glad to hear that a volant and exhaust can help with mpg. Good selling points with the wife

Just passed 10k on my '05 RT, and on last week's trip from Phoenix to Las Vegas, I averaged 23mpg with the A/C on most of the way, driving 70-90mph. Not too bad...

Jax....I am using stock air pressure settings on door jam..When I was on the highway I kept cruise on faithfully at 65..I believe if I went 60 it would improve but I don't want to end up on someones bumper..When fall arrives and no a/c Mpg should be better..I found out that with my remote starter in the winter all the extra warm up time eats into the #'s I also believe that no 2 R/T's will be exactly the same but close..I also think the guy's getting poor mileage may have a lead foot..I'm not one that has jack rabbit starts just steady for the most part..Tire pressure is very important and in the winter I check every week or so..My exhaust had to be about 100 lbs. lighter than the stock unit ...I love the sound..I can hear the tone difference when the engine switches back and forth on the highway and sometimes doing about 40mph..After awhile you forget about it and you can just pump up the volume on the cd's....
