the only cheaper option would be to either go with 235-55 R18 which is slightly smaller OD for the Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50 or 235-60 R18 which is slightly larger OD for the Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow, both of those are $139 ea.

I would save the factory rims and tires for the warmer months, buy some steel wheels that fit (15-17 inches) and snow tires that are about the same diameter of the factory tires. Replace all 4 wheels, you will be amazed at how good the car handles in the snow. When I lived in Chicago and had my 96' Impala SS with 4 snow tires on it, it made a big difference. The front snows will make it steer better and brake better. My factory rims were 17 inches but my snows were 15 inches, as long as all 4 tires are the same size, it does not matter.

Enjoy the snow,

Bob

I bought Pirelli snow and ice tires from Tire Rack for my RT. What a HUGE difference. They even ride and stick better all around than
the Conti's. No mileage guarantee though. Good luck! Ben

smaller rims aren't really an option on the RT cause of the rotor size, the calipers bairly clear inside of the 18", I think even 17" would end up hitting the caliper as it doesn't look like there's more than 1/4 - 3/8" between the caliper and the rim.

Not sure if it is an option, but I have an SXT that I put RT rims on, so the SXT's are just sitting around collecting dust.

Anyone interested, just let me know, might make a decent set of winter tires (for someone).

The factory Contis on my RT worked fine for me last winter in the Ohio snow and ice. I do have another brand new set on the original wheels for this winter to save my chrome ones. 17s wont fit on RT. My custom wheels are 18s and you cant slip a piece of cardboard between them and the calipers on the front.
