Says no to fuel
Maybe this has been posted before but I had a situation where I was putting (or trying) to put gas in the car and it just wouldnt take it. What happened was the tank was half empty and the fuel prices were lower then usual (which isnt low) so I decided to top it off...had one heck of a time getting gas into the car and finally had to do it by hand in small increments...????? What is going on there....also have a 1977 Chrysler New Yorker (which only has 21,000 actual miles on it by the way) and it was doing the same thing the day before. I havent had any trouble filling the Magnum up til this point. When I got back into the car and (thought) the tank was full it wasnt according the guage. What goes?
Yeah I had this problem a few times. It isn't the car. It is the pump and how sensitive it is. Also some pumps have nozzles that don't fit correctly (angle of entry) for the car. This is where i have found some problems. But yeah I had to do what you said one time for a full tank. It would stop every three dollars or so. It sucked.
I've had it happen on many cars at many pumps.
There is a cutoff for the pump when it senses fuel coming back (as if tank were full) to prevent spillage. Sometimes they are kinda goofy and sensitive (like our parking brake sensors, grrrr). It's a pain, but I bet if you go to another station you won't have this problem.

Ditto the above, I have problems at some stations and not at others.
It may be a combination of pressure venting from our gas tank and a gas pump nozzle with a too sensitive nozzle.
Good luck,
Bob
