RE: For Those Who Have Sound Systems in Your Magnums
Well I tried grounding the amp through a block to the battery and it made no difference what so ever. But I think it might be the crossovers for my components causing the noise. So I have a few more things to try and if none of them work I will have to do what I always hated doing. Paying someone to look at it.

These are some of the "rules" that I follow when installing:
NOISE
1) power and ground straight from the battery.
2) ground everything to one point.
3) when running cables to the rear, power on one side and RCA on the other.
4) if cable do have to cross, do it perpurdicular(sp)
POWER
5) use correct guage for draw
6) fuse the main power lead < 1 foot from the battery
SYSTEM SURVIVAL
7) NEVER run the input gain at max
8) dont go above 3/4 max vol
9) X-over or Bassblock anything but subs
Here is a website that I found on "alternator noise". CarStereo.com.
Lots of good info there.

I really appreciate everybody's help. I have been working on car stereos for a couple of years now and I never have had as many problems as I am having now. I know the rule about running the power wire down one side and the RCA's down the other. Every car i have ever had I have done that. Now the magnum has the battery in the back so i don't even have to run the power wire through the car. It's just run straight to the fuse block. the RCA's don't even come near it. Everything is grounded to the battery also. My guess is that it's the crossovers picking up the noise but it's 110 degrees outside and I really don't want to work on the car. When It cools down some I will work on it some more because I want to fix the problems and then when this is all set I am going to put my subs in.

Been a while since you posted opposite. Any updates?
Me? I've given up.
As long as I only use a amp for the woofer, where I can cut out freqs above 150hz, I'm fine. Means I can't run an amp on my regular speakers though, which sucks a bit, but the head unit is pretty good so it's liveable.
Personally, I think I'll be getting rid of the magnum as soon as I can afford to. I'm about $10,000 or more upside down on it right now. Yipeee...
Next car will be a Vette most likely.

Well It turned out that it was the gain on the amplifier was truned all the way up. i swear I tunred it down when I had it in my last car but apparently not. But i re-wired everything and it sounds great now. Plus I put Fat Mat all inside the car so I get no rattle what so ever. If all the doors are close you can barely hear anything even at high Volumes. I Love It.
