Average MPG drops while engine is OFF!
I have found that my Magnum RT gets such poor gas mileage that the MPG average in
EVIC drop while the engine is OFF and the accessories are still on.
For example:
Today my EVIC average MPG was 13.2 when I hit the parking garage and turned the engine off. I was
listening to the radio for a few minutes while I sent a few emails from my BlackBerry. Just before
I got out of the vehicle the EVIC MPG average showed 12.7!! You can actually see if drop slowly
through the numbers.
I am not the smartest guy on the planet, but I do believe MPG should be
based on two things:
1. Fuel used
2. Miles travelled
While I understand that I was not moving (0 miles travelled) I should not have been using any fuel
with the engine off
Has this happened to anybody else or is my EVIC huffing gas and making stuff up on its own?
This is an 05 RT with about 1500 miles and it was manufactured Feb 2005.
As a side note gas prices in North-Central Florida vary wildly.... A Citgo had $2.79 for regular and the Shell next to
it was $2.99. 89 octane was $2.89 and $3.09 respectively. They are headed only 1 direction - UP!

I don't think the computer gives a 'real time' AVG MPG reading.
To test it. Next time park your car and note the MPG, turn of engine and everything else. Next time you go out ti fire it up, check the MPG again.

It does just seem goofy!
