Default EGR or PCM?

We have had what looked to be an egr code for awhile now and we were just waiting until it was time to smog it to repair.

Unrelated - but we had to do an engine swap caused by someone else driving the car...

Anyway, while it was apart, my mechanic was testing the valve and sensor and it seemed fine.

We now get an oil alarm pop up at startup (already replaced that sensor) but it disipears if you shut off and restart.

My mechanic wonders if it is the PCM and a friend mentioned the wiring harnesses could be corroded.

Any thoughts?
