Bought an 05 Magnum SXT back in October. Needed to have the engine rebuilt on it. Just got the car out of the shop yesterday with a brand new rebuild, to find out that the transmission won't shift any higher than 2nd. Mechanic that did the rebuild said that a may be some sort of external censor or cylinoid. Anybody have any advice?? It would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

 

Not shifting past 2nd is usually going to be the trans in "limp-in" mode. That is a normal strategy of the software to prevent additional damage.


If your trans was OK before the rebuild, make them figure it out. They could have even left something unplugged.

 

That's the problem. We don't know the condition the trans was in when we bought it. The car didn't run, engine needed to be rebuilt.
