Default 2005 Magnum Auto Transmission locks in Park until I mess with the Pink plastic thing.

Greetings to all,
Re: 2005 Magnum,
When the gear shifter (automatic transmission) locks in the park position I then have to pull-up the square shape chrome trim piece from around the shift ****... Then on the right side of the shift assembly I have to take a flat screw driver to move the flexible pink plastic part towards the left while foot is on the brake pedal and then I can move the shifter out of park... So what repair is needed? Is the pink plastic piece worn out or does anyone know what it takes to fix this issue? Your input greatly appreciated...
Cheers,
Ft Lauderdale Mag Man

Shift interlock latch; it's a well known problem that happens over time. You can get another factory plastic part of there are aftermarket companies that make metal ones that don't break.
