HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope you had a great and safe xmas and new years......I know i did...... i blew up about 500 mortars,38 1/4 inch dynamite (also known as boom sticks),50 screamers, 240 1/8 pieces of dynamite (also know as sammy shots) and anything else i could get my hands on!!!!!! but that was yesterday so heres the update:
i havent been around to much becasue i was celebrating and doing the xmas new years thing but now im back yet, the Phantum is still waiting.....
cars comin along slowly but surely except for the fact that they need to redesign the hinge.......
heres what happened......on the hinge im using, at the top part of the hinge itself where it is connected with the pin and bushings, there is a plastic like spcaer that seems to not been able to hold the load. So now they are sending both hinges to a machine shop to basically weld on a tubular steel spacer and use tool steel for the pin and bushing.....BUT they cant do that JUST yet!!!! it seems that the jackasses thought it would be a great idea and mis number a part.........which just so happens to be the driver side hinge that i need to finish up the door installation....aint that some ****.....so finally the body shop has gotten a hold of someone to physically go and look at the hinge...so with all that out of the way i gots till next week before any progress will be made with the hinges themselves.......as of now the doors swings almost 160 degrees.....i still have 2 more custom jobs before i can actually present the Phantum.......as soon as i get an update i'll let ya know
Matt

is the whole door hanging off just one hinge? are there bearings in that hinge? you're going to need some very tight tolerances.

Default Phantum update.......

Note: ***I'll have pics when doors are done***

well this week is supposed to be better....the driverside hinge is supposed to come in this week....which is what we have been waiting on for a month now(company keeps sending wrong hinge). Shortly after the hinge comes in, both hinges will then be taken to the machine shop. At the machine shop, the hinges need to be modified with steel tubular spacers in order for the hinges to support the weight of the door(reason being the hinge oringinally had a hinge at the top and one at the bottom...im currently using the bottom which has a plastic spacer in result sux LOL) after the spacers have been welded on, they will also manufacture tool steel pin and bushings...which will beef up the hinge even more....this will take about a week assuming that the company who is sending the hinge...sends the right one on...lets see....our 4th try!!!!!!!! by the 28th the doors should be installed.......then they need to repaint it and throw on some ghost flames....the really nice thing is they(custom shop)feel really bad and continue to apologize even though its not their fault....so they are basically throwing in a paint job from back door to front all the way around to the back driverside door....How cool is that!?!?!?!? with ghost flames....after all that wishy wash, they then need to install the airride suspension.....this in theory, should take us to the 2nd week of feb....and we are still not done......the last project will be the audio setup.....but we have a long way before that.......im so glad prohibition doesnt exsist for alcohol......LOL

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY my hinge has come in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!i cant ****ing believe it finally after 1 whole month the driverside hinge has finally come through!!!!!!!!!!!!! monday or tuesday it is being sent to the machine shop where it will under take a steel 1/4 inch tubular spacing welded to fill the space needed and then pin and bushings made of tool steel....so by the 30th of January there will now be progress and the doors will soon be finished by Valentines day!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!
then a week after that, the bags will be installed
and then the week after that, the system will be installed........so all this time i have only been waitin for this damn Driverside hinge just to proceed.........................Im SO pissed but yet so Happy!!!!!!!
