Magnum engine swap 2.7 to 3.6
Hey All - I already have (2) Magnums with 5.7 Hemis. I picked up an 2008 rust free Magnum with an overheating 2.7 motor. I am wondering what effort is required to swap the 2.7 to the 3.6 Penta Star V-6? I notice a lot of new style Chargers & Chrysler 300's are running the 3.6, so to me it kind of makes sense to go the V-6 route with the price of gas for a daily driver. Thanks in advance.
The existing electronic infrastructure in the Magnum isn't capable of running the Pentastar. You MIGHT be able to get by with an adapter harness (contact hotwireauto.com) to use a 2011 to 2014 3.6 PCM; 2011 used the NAG1 (5 sp) trans. 2012 on used the ZF 8sp trans. Absolute best route would be to have a donor car and transfer everything into it (the basic structure of the platform has changed very little from 2005 to now). Regardless, it will require significant effort and cost.
