Default Intermittent Fault in Infotainment System

My '07 Magnum has developed an intermittent fault in the infotainment system. Most of the time the screen is blank and none of the controls (either from the dash or the steering wheel) work except the volume. So most of the time I'm stuck on one particular FM station. Every once in a while, the screen lights up and I appear to regain full functionality. Other times the screen stays dark but things work. The periods during which I can shift modes and change channels is very brief - typically no more than a few minutes. This fault started within the last 6 months.

Anyone run across this? Loose connections? And suggestions for where to take the car? Would like to avoid by local Dodge dealer and I question whether this is a job for my local service station.

Side note... Got an XM subscription when I bought the car but the satellite radio never worked. Maybe the issues are related.

TIA
