Default New Magnum SXT Owner Loving it, Oil Change Question

Hi all,

I am an old muscle car guy and own many cars and am basically car crazy. I love our magnum SXT. I just started cleaning and waxing it and want to do an oil change. I have yet to buy a service manual, can anyone tell me where to find the oil drain plug and oil filter ? Many thanks!

Dennis

Dennis,

First jack up the car or use car ramps, I use the latter.

Remove the plastic cover under the engine, there should be 4 (four) 13mm (?) bolts that hold the cover on. This will give you access to the drain plug and oil filter.

Oil drain plug is a 13mm bolt size, note that the rubber gasket is part of the drain plug. The oil drain plug should be replaced at least once a year, to prevent galling of the aluminum drain pan.

Oil filter.............use filter wrench to remove.

Not sure what the oil capacity of the V6 engine is, my Hemi takes 6.5 quarts of 5W20 oil.

Good luck,

Bob

My 06 wife's SXT takes 6 quarts with the new filter! I did not jack mine; I drove up on ramp stands... much safer!
