Key Magnum Features:
Magnum on Towing:
Magnum RT, when equipped with the available Trailer Tow Group (late availability), is capable of towing trailers up to 3,800 pounds. Without the Trailer Tow Group, Magnum delivers up to 2,000 pounds of towing capacity when powered by the 3.5 or 5.7-liter engine. Magnum SE's 2.7-liter engine can tow up to 1,000 lbs.
Transmissions:
Both Magnum SE and SXT feature a standard four-speed automatic transmission. Taking it up a notch, Magnum RT features a standard five-speed automatic transmission with AutoStickĀ®.
Engines:
Magnum gives you the choice of three awe-inspiring engines: Magnum SE's 2.7-liter V6, Magnum SXT's 3.5-liter V6, and, for the Magnum RT, a 5.7-liter HemiĀ® V8. Sporting horsepower and torque ratings that most vehicles envy, all three deliver heart-stopping acceleration.
Multi-Displacement System:
Available on Magnum RT's 5.7-liter HemiĀ® V8, the Multiple-Displacement System (MDS) is a pure stroke of genius. By switching from eight to four cylinders during cruising and light acceleration, MDS improves fuel economy from 5 to 20 percent depending on driving habits
Rear-Wheel Drive:
Powerful rear-wheel drive performance makes Magnum a perfect addition to the Dodge line. Rear-wheel drive brings better traction for acceleration with high-performance engines, a near 50/50 weight distribution enhances vehicle balance, and a longer wheelbase means a smoother ride with even more interior room.
All-Speed Traction Control:
By helping to prevent excessive wheel slip when accelerating on slippery surfaces, the available all-speed traction control enhances mobility and directional stability. This is accomplished by operating both the brakes and the electronic throttle control (ETC).
Electronic Stability Program:
The available advanced Electronic Stability Program (ESP)* aids the driver in maintaining vehicle directional stability. It monitors factors including steering angle, turning rate and lateral acceleration to determine vehicle behavior. When the ESP system determines that vehicle behavior differs from the driver's intended course, it reacts to help keep the car on course. The Emergency Brake Assist feature can detect a driver's intended panic stop, and apply optimum brake pressure to help achieve minimum stopping distances.
Suspension:
An all-new short and long arm SLA front suspension and five-link independent rear suspension system maintain independent control of each wheel during suspension movement for excellent handling. An advanced suspension mounting system provides a dramatic reduction in road noise to the passenger compartment. What this means to you is a smooth ride that is also quiet.
Brakes:
Every Magnum is designed with a larger effective braking swept area that translates into more braking power. For even more control, the anti-lock 4-wheel disc brakes standard on SXT, and the anti-lock 4-wheel performance disc brakes standard on RT are equipped with electronic sensors that help prevent wheel lockup. The anti-lock brakes offer improved steering control under extreme braking and/or slippery conditions.
Self-Sealing Tires:
Magnum's available self-sealing tires are designed to keep you on the road even if you run into some trouble. If a sharp object punctures* your tire, a special sealant helps reduce your chance of getting a flat by sealing the puncture to minimize the loss of air pressure.
