Default Slow pedal response

I have a 2005 AWD 3.5L Magnum with ESP. When I step on the gas it lags for about a second then takes off. Even when I am going down the freeway and I want to pass someone I step on the pedal and there's a second lag. Does this sound normal? Thanks

Try recalibrating the throttle.

Isn't that just a characteristic of throttle by wire? Mine seems to be the same way.

Well I calibrated it like the post suggested but it's still the same. This just deosn't seem right. Be it a cable linkage or by wire it should still be more responsive than it is. Any other suggestions?

Well the "recalibrating the throttle" does zip..it has been proven via starscan that is does nothing, we all just wish it did! What you are experiencing is the way the computer controls the "fly by wire" system. The computer is attempting to keep the car under control at all times. This is why all of us Hemi guys are finally excited that a company (SuperChips) released a tuner this past week to allow for us to have some control over the very controlling car computer. They have nothing for the 3.5 yet, but one never knows if they will do a tuner for your engine.
