Default Parts pricing question

I recently had to purchase an interior trim replacement part that I could only get from chrysler (not available in the aftermarket). It took a little while to find the part since it wasn't too common and there were none in the distribution center. One dealer ordered one for me (with no real anticipated delivery date) and while waiting for it to come in I located one in a dealer not too far from my house...However there was a $10 price difference (wich I gladly paid to have the part), but it got me wondering who controls the pricing on parts. Is it at the dealers discrection to mark up the parts at will? Anybody out there know how this works...just curious.

Default RE: Parts pricing question

You can deal with most dealer parts dept. Most will give some % off if you talk with them. One of our local dealers give us employee pricing on parts.
