RE: prototype ram-charger airbox
thanks guys, i will finish reworking the hood this weekend. i will post pictures of the modifications needed there.
i don't know why RK Sports didn't complete their ram-air hood project like this. why don't the SRT's have a setup like this? the concept challenger does.

ram-charger airbox is finished and i started to modify the underside of the hood. i have to re-think the duct work on the hood. this isn't going to keep the rain out. i am working on it. should have a better idea in a day or so. here is what i have so far.

Hey Tony, You got a great thing going there.
It got me wondering how the Challenger's ducting was engineered and how they got around this water issue. I found these photos off of the Challenger site but unfortunately they don't have a photo of the under side of the hood. Here's what I downloaded though.
It is obviously not directly sent into the intake at the filter. I guess that's how they got around it ..duh? lol.

RE: prototype ram-charger airbox
Hey Tony, I was getting my 48K service today and while I was there at the dealership I was checking out the Viper intake and scoop design.
The scoop looks to be functional but it's only about maybe 10-20% of the air intake. The majority of the air looks like it is delivered through the front grill openings and are directly ducted to the filter intake area.
Anyways the scoop has a deflector inside of it that looks like it directs water and moisture down to 2 small drain like holes between the 2 filters.
Did'nt have my camera with me to be able to post any details but if you can, maybe stop by and check it out for yourself. It may give you some ideas.
I was also going to wish you good luck with the COTM but it looks like you're gonna run away with it!

RE: prototype ram-charger airbox
here is the underside of the hood all cut open and cleared way for the new duct work.
this is the new duct that lets the rain water over shoot the filter and drain off while the incomming air will curve around into the filter.
the duct was durabonded to the hood. just need some more fiberglass work and a new hood insulation pad and i am done.
