what do you think?
I don't know if you guys got this same notice, but I got a notice in the mail yesterday stating that when the engine in my 2006 Dodge Magnum was built, there may have been some "sandy debris" that got into the engine. It also said that the engine may need to be replaced. My question to you guys is this; If the engine DOES have to be replaced, what does that do to the trade-in/resale value of my car. I would think that the value of my car would go down drastically. What do you think?
I think that it would be better for resale as now u have less mileage on the vehicle. Just keep track of the change and mileage at the change. You should be fine! It may also help with your warranty...but of that I am not sure, I am sure you could discuss that with those involved.
A little info for you....I had an engine replacement under warranty when I had my 98 Lincoln Mark VIII....
1)-State and Federal laws mandate that you as an owner must advise State authorities of the replacement ( New Engine Numbers ) and advisement to any "Private Sale" buyers....
2)- Seeing this repair was under "Warranty"....It's the Dealers responsibility to advise any prospective Buyers of such repair work...
3)- As for resale, it's a " crap shoot ".... Mileage and condition vs New engine....
The problem I encountered was...the repairing Dealership did a "half ***" installation and had more problems than I had prior to the exchange... A Service Dept is only as good as the work they put out....
Hope it helps.....
