Nav/Radio Question
Hey all, new member here. I own a black 2005 Magnum R/T and I love it. The only problem I've had is with the 6 CD/NAV system. A few months ago I noticed I was getting poor radio reception that only got worse. Now it's to the point that almost every station (both AM and FM) is just static. In any other car I would have checked the antenna connection but I'm not familiar enough with this car to do that. I told the dealer about it to get it fixed along with a tire rotation and oil change and I was told that Chrysler doesn't allow their service departments to troubleshoot radio issues, they just replace the whole thing. The problem is they still haven't located a new radio/NAV unit. I'm in the military and am moving to Germany in March (yeah that's right...the Autobahn!!) and I'm getting nervous. Anybody here know what the holdup might be?? Should that part be that tough for a rather large Dodge dealer to get their hands on?? Any help would be great.
radio/nav units are shipped from colorado for djc dealers your dealer should be able to get it if the parts are in stock there if now and this really sucks to say this but your dealer can ship your to them have it repaired and send it back. now as far as your recp problem and the back glass is tinted it could be the tint film that was used. if the tint is a mettalic based tint it will interfere with am recp. i know i work at a dealer and fought the same porblem 7 times with a customer before we realized it was all caused by the tint.
hope some of this info helps--have fun on the autobahn

Cool, thanks for the info. Regarding the tint info...what is the fix for that?? Do they have to switch out the tint film with one that is not metallic?? Would the warranty cover that? I never had the problem for about the first 6 months, then it slowly got worse. Anyway, looks like I'm gonna have to call the dealer and find out what's up. He said something about that part being a "star part" which meant it's tough to get, but I think a 4 month waitfor a radio/nav on a 2005 car is a bit much.
