NAVIGATION ALWAYS OFF COURSE
I've been having an issue for a long time where my navigation system in my 2006 Magnum shows me way off course. Every day at some point, it will show me on the wrong road or in a field or a lake. My dealer has replaced the radio/nav unit and the antenna with no luck. At first I was told that the antenna insulation was worn through where it rubbed against a bracket, causing it to short out. That didn't fix the problem. Then they replaced my radio which has the nav receiver built into it and that didn't fix the issue. There are no other parts on the car that have to do with the navigation function. What could be the problem? The other day on a very major highway, it had my location wrong for a 30 mile stretch. It's a daily occurance. I have done no other modifications to my car that may affect the navigation unit. I am taking it back to my dealer this week for the fourth time. They are going to replace the antenna again thinking that maybe I got a bad one. Anybody else have this problem?
If you have a good CDrom, good unit and antenna, thats all there is. I have a windshield mount aftermarket GPS, and Ive occasionally had it give me a bad location like you discribe. I drove about 30 miles on a freeway that showed me about 5 miles off of it, then all of a sudden correct info popped on. Sounds like you have something defective though. You dont have anything custom tied into the unit do you ? like boom boxes or something. Electronics in cars are getting extremely sensitive any more. I put a tail lite bulb in a repaired wreck that worked fine but wasnt the exact correct one , and it made the wipers run ??? Called the dealer and he told me to put the right number bulb in and it fixed it..........wierd crap.
