As a New magnum owner, I spoke with the guys at the dealership, running 5.7's, and they said the K&N drop in was the best buy for the buck. Slight increase at mid range., and fuel economy is claimed.

I tried it and noticed no difference in performance or gas milage. Don't know if the Fram air hog, which is cheaper doesn't give you about the same. Both save on replacement costs.

Browsing the boards, seems like Airhammer gives the best performance increase, which isn't much. Mostly you're buying sound with a CAI in my opinion.

The stock box is already fed from below, so it's already "cold air", but picks up heat from the engine compartment, and turbulence from the funky intake hose.
Cooler air will slightly increase the air charge, and reduce the burn time, resulting in lower NOx and just a tad more power. I think there are aftermarket intake tubes, but don't know if they work as advertised

The engine is controlled by an Air/Fuel ration controller and closed code computer hierchey, that will keep things running within a programmed ratio anyway.

That being said, we used to flip the air cleaner cover on our 4 barrel carbs, and they sure sounded like we were going faster when the secondaries kicked in. Just didn't prove to be true at the track.
I ordered a "sound system" and don't expect much more than that out of it.

Of the 3 R/T's I test drove, one was a slug, one really ran well, and one was in between. I bought the tweener for color choice. It's quick enough to break numerous traffic laws.

I liked the one that you just tossed in the Washer and Dryer to Clean... No oils... However, unless you 'Tune' the computer in your car, you will result right back to 345 HP in a matter of time. The computer will recognize the increase and then retard your performance to get back within Specs... This goes for all Mods. Exhaust, CAI, etc...

CAI====> cold air intake. basically it is the air filter and the tube used to connect to the throttle body.

i think the AFE stage II is the best. larger intake tube and larger filter than the K&N setup.

I have a K&N. Won't void warranty. Its the same picture as mine but mine had a different product #. I believe it was in the 57 series. I called K&N about the one you looked at and they told me it was for the 6.1L not the 5.7 . Im not sure if there is any real difference but I ordered the one K&N told me was for the 5.7
