New 06 Magnum - Vibration at 60+ mph
My car has 600 miles on it now. Just got it last week. I noticed right away (3miles on it) there was some vibration. I checked the tires and they were low - like 20lbs. I inflated them to about 36lbs and have been driving on this. There was some inprovement, but still unacceptable vibration.
Has anyone else had troubles with the stock tires? I have an appt with the local dealer to have them check it out, my guess is maybe a out of round tire or something. Curious what others have expirenced with these stock tires....
Thanks.

This is normal for a lot of cars from the factory to pull from left to right or shake. You think they aline all the cars that come off the line. The dealer said they dont do **** its just factory specs.Any way I had the same problem too.I actually change my tire and went with a beefier one.Do you have the r/t with the 18 or the srt with the 20
I had those vibration problems as well; here's what the dealer did on my July purchased '06 Magnum RT/AWD/HEMI:
1. replaced all four brake rotors, steering wheel shake still there
2. replaced all four brake pads, steering wheel shake still there
3. re-aligned the steering, steering wheel shake still there
4. balanced the tires
5. problem fixed
This took several trips back and forth to the dealership; they eventually elminated the steering wheel shake when I took the service manager for a drive, took the car up to 70mph on the highway and stomped (kind of hard) on the brakes specifically at 60mph...that's when he finally saw the steering wheel shakeproblem I was complaining about.
It seems that after the tires were balanced the problem was solved.

Had the same exact issue with my 06 R/T Magnum with 18 wheels. The vehicle sat on the lot for months with low tire pressure. Obviously the rotors had a lot of surface rust. Bottom line is that the dealer replaced all 4 Goodyear Assurance tires, and turned the rotors on the vehicle, just enough to smooth out the rotors.
Remember, the rotors do not have the surface rust on the area that the pad rest. The result is the shimming when applying the brakes. I've had the rotorissue on other vehicles that I bought new that had sat on the dealers lot.
All is good now, smooth as glass however the dealer did state that there was a tsb regarding the tires vibrating until they warm up.

Hey...you guys are a great help! I'm having the same problem on my 06 Mag (5.7 Hemi-AWD) and was wondering what the hell was going on with it. I just purchased last Thursday. I'm going to have the dealer check the brakes, rotors, and balancing this week. I can't believe it that I'm having a problem already. Also, I get that same 60mph vibration-shimmy-thing when I brake. Should I have the dealer replace the tires right away? They are the 18" Continentals.
Last question: Does the steering seem real loose? It seems like it's "extremely" sensitive and when turning, I have to keep both hands on the wheel for extra security. Is this what is known as "too much" oversteer? How do you fix this problem?
