Default Shift Points

I noticed that my RT seems to hit the rev limiter right before the transmission shifts to the next gear, this is under full throttle. Kind of like the engine has a miss, just before the tranny shifts.

Now that I put on the Flowmasters and removed the stock resonators, you can really hear it - the engine sounds like a misfire.

Can the dealer adjust the shift points? Is there some kind of adjustment on the transmission linkage?

Anyone else having this problem? No damage being done, it only happens for a second or two, just really annoying.

Yes the dealer technician can resolve this with the StarSCAN tool. It's a software issue, but there may not be a TSB written for that condition yet.

Anyone else have that problem?

Mine is still too new to really flog it around, but I do sense something is not quite right. I haven't taken it up to the limit yet, but when I start it in the morning and put the car in reverse, the tranny seems to shudder going into gear. I haven't done anything about it yet as I am waiting for some miles to give it the 'real' test before I start complaining.

I have noticed the shuddering condition on our SXT, too when in reverse. After 2000+ miles I haven't noticed any more, so the problem may have taken care of itself.

Yes my problems with transmission begun with exactly the same "wrong time shifting on a hight RPM " (600mi) . Later on it became a "small road bump" during shifting (1200 mi) and finally became a limp mode (1900 mi) and now I have my car in a service shop for 10 days without any result (see my post ).

Not sure why, but my shifting problems or hitting the rev limiter have gone away.

Car runs and shifts fine at full throttle now, may have been some bad gas?

To be on the safe side, I will keep checking the full throttle shifts (ain't it fun?) and since my gas tank was down to half (89 octane) I filled up the tank with 93 octane to see if it helps shifting (rev limiter) problem.

I'm not sure if this is relevant, but my Thunderbird had a 'learning' cycle where the computer learned your driving habits and adjusted the throttle response time and the shift points based on the way you drove. It took it a week or so to 'adjust'. I had the computer re-programmed with the latest flash programs and I noticed it had to re-learn all over again.

The Magnum RT may have the same type of learning cycle. I guess time will tell. I've only got 1000 miles on mine and am planning on waiting until about 2000 before I go in complaining.

Zero shift problems, I broke it in hard from day one - no lag what so ever under full throttle, changed the oil @ 2300 miles - and it was pitch black! it will light the tires with or without ESP from a dead stop or a slow roll- fun car to drive!

Have 1200 miles on my RT now, did change the oil at 1000 miles, to 10W30 oil.

All is well, no further problems.

Sounding good with Flowmasters on, just ordered the 360 air intake system.
