64' Heater core, how to?
Hey guys!
I need to replace the heater core on my 64' Sport Fury, I can't find anything in the manuals I have on how to do it, nor can I find anything by using the search function on the forum!
I have a sinking feeling I need to remove the most of the dash in order to get to the core, as i can't see a simple way of doing it, unless I'm missing something! I was hoping it would be a easy fix!
Can someone shed some light on how to do this?
Thanks in Advance
Mike

It's been a while and my FSM is six miles away at my shop. But when I was young and poor the heater core went out on my 1964 convertible. I didn't have a shop manual back then and still managed to do it without destroying anything. If I remember correctly the heater box mounts with screws or nuts on the fire wall behind the engine. Then there are the electrical fan controls and the cables for temprature and heat defrost selection. The 1964 regulated the water flow thru the core to achive the desired temp. The control valve is on the side of the box. Be sure to note where the heater hoses go. I hooked mine up backwards and every time I reved the engine the control vale would thump as the water pump pressure would blow the valve off its seat.
