Default 66 satellite charging issue

My dad bought a 66 Satellite with 400 (small block originally). He says his charging system isnt working. He bought a mopar performance voltage regulator, put on a good alternator. But still wont charge. He checked it and it puts out only 11.94 volts. do any of you guys have any ideas, or come across before? I recommended putting on a NEW alternator.
Thanks for your help.

Default RE: 66 satellite charging issue

I would go down and purchase a new battery. 11.94 volts is a little on the low side compared to the normal 12.5 to 13.5 that a alternator from that year puts out. Also depending on how he likes his interior to look....if its not a primo restored contours correct judged show car..loose the amp meter and replace it with a top quality aftermarket voltage meter. Mopar Performance only sells voltage regulators for 1970 on cars in either the electronic and constant output regulators..if you have added this to replace the 65-69 voltage regulator, consider finding a 70-75 70 amp alternator, it is a little more wiring involved but worth it.
