Default New Interior Question, some input please!

I recently came across this web site http://www.automotiveinteriors.com and they offer custom seat covers. I sent away for the vinyl samples and recieved them yesterday and I am very pleased to see that the lemon yellow matches my car's exterior color. The vinyl appears to be a high grade product, my wife worked at a craft store for a year and said that it is better than anything her store sold.

Automotive Interiors sells for a Company called Autocraft Mfg. Ctr. Inc. both are located in Mass.
Autocraft has a laser cut machine with the specs for my seats programed so I'm guessing that the fit should be good.
I priced out the front and rear seats and the total came to around $365 it comes with the hog rings and the special tool to put them on. You can completly replace the vinyl on the seats or it can go over your exsisting seats like a cover.
My friend Roy just paid a local guy $990 to have his done the same way with purple on the inserts.

So know I got the samlpes and my question is has anyone used this company or know anyone that has?
Does this sound like a good option?

I've never used them, but I opted out of doing my seats myself to avoid the learning curve and getting them done really tight -- and covers I was looking at were a lot more expensive than that.

I had a local Canadian company do my seats for about $950 (CAN) taxes in, but they also checked the foam, springs etc, and replaced anything that was questionable but they were in great shape. Coincidence, I got black vinyl with purple inserts too

Anyhow, still I say go for it -- if you have the time to do it yourself, just be picky when you do it. I'd say if you were impressed with the sample products, for the cost difference it's probably good to go for.

And hey, if you get into trouble, you could probably get a local guy to install them if you get in a pinch.

You know what Plum your right! I probably could get a local guy to bail me out if it turns out to be more than I can handle. I took the seats out two years ago and checked the springs and hardware to see if I would need to replace anything down the road and everything seemed to be in good condition. I can be a pretty picky SOB when it comes to the cars so if I can't get it to fit right I won't let it sag.

Sounds like your charger is like Roys. I have a shot of Roy's Plum charger in my gallery! His seats where done by a local "prefessional" yet the purple inserts on the back of the seat don't line up with the insert on the bottom of the seats. Also the front near the floor waves like a flag, nothing was pulled taught to get the waves out. He got all this for $990 so I fiqured how bad could "custom" cut seat covers be made by a machine. I think I'm going to go for it! The car doesn't get out of storage till mid May so if I order now 8 to 10 weeks puts it about May 1st.

Cool. Go for it man.

Yeah, the local shop that did mine -- I had a couple good referrals on and he sewed them up himself as a one off.

Like you say, if you are ordering something that's being marketed as an after market product for your car, very least they've been dimensioned to spec and even if they cut and sew by hand, you would expect they are going to fit OK or they wouldn't sell too many

And given that it's fabric, there's some play there any way so you can mess with it till it's perferctly taught and lined up correctly as long as it's made properly to fit.

My Charger's got separate panels on the back of the front seats, do have anything like that to deal with...do they address that?

I believe our back seats are the same for a 70-74 B-body, you gotta take the bottom out first then the top half.
So I'm hoping they might match up better if there done this way, plus there are several options to choose from when ordering so that lesson the chance that someone will come out with the same seat covers. You get a little personilization with them. Also my wife has a sewing machine that embroiders images so I might make an attept at re-stitching the roadrunner back into my headrests.(see gallery)

Embroidery would definitely be cool.

I meant the back side of the front seats though - I expect they are the same as well now that you mention it... that padded panels that come off the back of the front seats....
