Default 1971 Charger R/T????

I found a Charger in a small town. It appears to be a 1971 R/T. I asked about them selling it and they are thinking of selling it. My question is, how do I know if it is a true R/T??? This car has those vents behind the front wheels, did only the R/T come with those "vents"???

I also don't know if the car has the original motor. They were fixing the few dents the car had and is primered but nothing has been done to it in a long time. I believe they have no idea of what kind of car they have if in fact it's a true R/T.

How can I tell if it is really an R/T???

Check the VIN. It's on a tag on the top of the dashboard on the drivers side of the car, next to the windshield. If it's a real R/T, It will start as WS23, with the 5th character being either a U, V, or an R. Also check the fender tag, on top of the driver's side inner fender when you open the hood, and the WS23 will appear there as well, the 3rd set of characters from the left on the bottom row. The first set of characters will be either an E74, E86, or an E87; the second set will be either a D21 or D32. These two groups signify the engine and transmission the car originally came with. Post your findings when you check it out.
