Default great place!!!

hope this is the correct forum. i have a 69 barracuda convertible....i am interested in swapping in a mid 90's magnum 360 engine (iknowiknowiknow all you purists will be screaming...sigh..)...i was wondering if anyone had any info on what will be required and how to's...or if anyone knows of another site that i might find the info i need...i have a complete donor vehicle...

i think the original engine was a 318...i built up a 360 years ago and that is what i have been using....but....the mpg...SUCKS...and to be honest...i own a truck with the mag 360 and it is so much more reliable than the older technology.....hope that calms the purists as to why...lol....thx....and again...GREAT site...vs

wow..the missus has a fairly healthy 360 ram, and i wish that it had the old version of the 360. stuff is so overpriced for the magnum motors.

with thisnew engine, are you going to run fuel injection or a carb?

hey mr340 i thought i had posted in new members.....lol...i must have screwed up the post somehow....i will do that protocol.....badstrat.....will run FI....i know what you mean about part prices...but i have to factor in fuel costs now....i drive the car FREQUENTLY in the spring/summer/fall....when i look at getting maybe double the fuel economy from the computerized FI engine....it adds up quickly.....i AM mostly old school....just a dusty cowboy....but when it impacts my pocketbook to THAT extent....anyway...i would sure appreciate any guidance or information regarding the swap if you know of any....thx....vs

honestly, ive never looked into aftermarket fuel injection on any of our cars, but i am a fan of the carb. I think that with an aftermarket fuel injection setup youll need a fuel management system of some sort (i dont know if that engine is TBI, which would probably be easier, or port injection), and perhaps some sort of interface between the stock ignition system and the fuel management system. then again, when i worked as a tech someone brought in a very old jeep, and he was running a 360 with a new edelbrock TBI system, and it basically looked like a really compact, clean carb. i dont see what the advantage of that system would be.

anyway, as long as the motor bolts in, i cant see what the issue would be other than wiring. although, i dont know what bell housing that engine bolts up to. i thought that someone said that the 360 magnum in the truck would not just bolt up to a 727. i dont know what tranny you have now, and i dont know which 360 youre getting, but that may be an issue as well as the wiring.

also, amanda's truck (360 magnum) might get worse mileage than the mirada did before it had a 3500 stall and 4.56 gears.
