I know you don't have to but some people just can't handle haveing ot work to steer their car (wimps). We plan on just looping the lines on project neon right now we just have the belt off pump and it works fine. It can be a little bit of a bitch if your not to used to manual steering but after a few minutes behind the wheel its all good.

 

I should think about doing this....

Simply because Im tired of buying power steering fluid....

I guess I could just fix the leak lol

 

You are right it can be done without using a maual rack I agree. The only point I was making is that taking the pump off a power steering car makes steering harder than steering a car with a manual rack. If I was going to go no PS I wouldn't buy a manual rack, but I just wanted to put that warning in there.

 

It's no harder turning a rack that had PS than a manual rack.

 

Maybe on some cars, but I know for a fact I have driven, not mine, but a Escort with a broken PS pump and a escort that was manual and the manual was a lot easier to turn. It may be different from car to car but on those cars I know there was a difference. The rack may have been bad on the PS car but???????
