Default engine swap

hi all, i need to do an engine swap between two neons...

is it easier through the top or pull out the whole k member from below???

on a side thought, how hard would it be to utilize a turbo kit off an mid 80's shadow?

thanks,
mike

Most people do it fromt he top. It's not that difficult.

I wouldn't bother with the turbo off the K-car, it's going to be too small and not worth the effort. You'd be better off either buying a kit from either http://modernperformance.com or chillfactory.com or finding a turbo big enough and building your own kit.

The only car I have seen that its easier fron the bottom is a vette. Actually that was the only way to get it out of my father's, it won't come out the top.

actually, i think it may be easier in the 4th gen camaro's as well, it's a toss up on those cars...

well, we've got a choice, either do the engine swap '00 to a 95 body or replace the rear of the car on the '00.
the 00 is a stick and the 95 is auto. i prefer sticks myself, but i'd also turbo charge it if it was up to me. but it isn't and i don't think we will. i took a look at the 95 and it didn't look bad but if we're gonna swap trans' i'm gonna drop it out the bottom, just switch the whole cradle, it'll be alot easier, if we just swap the motor i'll go through the top...

see the problem is most people are scared of doing things different. that's why older people are scared of computers on cars, they don't want to try something new, personally i'm done with carbed cars, efi all the way!
same goes with pulling motors out the bottom, most people are scared to try. with proper stands it's not a bid deal, i wish i would've done my z like that.

so can anyone highlight the differences between the 00 and 95 cars??? did they change sensors and computers or are they the same?

thanks,
mike

I know the pcm is different. If you take all the sensors from the 95 and swap them with the motor you should be O.K.
