My wife's 96 neon has developed a bad habit. The speedomter starts to fluctuate and the engine starts to run roughly at the same time. When the speedo quits for good ( the odomter quits too) the engine returns to running well. Then mysteriously and without warning or cause the speedo starts to work again. Ideas????

 

Its a common problem with neons it has something to do with the gauge cluster here is a link to a thread discussing it

I have heard of the spedo problem that is common, but for the engine to go rough at the same time I don't know maybe a pcm.
