Default Electrical Problems

hey there, I just installed a new CD player and i'm trying to solve a problem that's bugged me ever since i got my neon. Every time i remove my key, the head unit resets (time, radio presets, etc). This happened when i had the factory radio as well. I tested the +12V continuous wire and it has power when the key is in the accesory position but not when its off. Any insight is appreciated.

Well, to solve this problem it depends on how much you like getting into wiring.. It could be any number of things, from a bad ignition switch, to the continuous power wire being wired in with the acc. wire. Theres a good quick fix that you could use if you want, got to the local autozone or any parts store like best buy or Circuit city, get some 16 or 18 awg wire (yellow is the schematically correct) and do one of two things, either run to the battery and then to the +12 continuous wire on your head unit, or run the above mentioned wire to a constant power source in your fuse box. just in case, make sure you cap off the old constant wire to make sure that you don't backfeed the system and fry your pcm.

That it right there unless you want to inverstigate and find out why your constant isn't working, does your cig lighter work? check fuses. If you don't want the trouble run a wire.
