Default 2001 neon engine replacement

Hello, I am looking at replacing the engine (2.0L, 16 valve) in my 2001 neon. Automatic transmision. After doing some poking around on this forum, I have begun to think about going with a bigger engine (2.4L stratus). I am concerned that I will be needing new wiring harnesses or adaptor kits. Has anyone done this? What should I expect to pay for such an engine? Any places to look for engines that are cheap, any places to avoid? As an alternative, I might just stay with a 2.0L replacement engine. End result I am looking for is a little extra juice under the hood and a fairly simple swap out without trying to spend a whole bunch of money that I dont really have. (broke-college student.) Any help is appreciated.

Okay, This is why people should look around the forum before asking obviously common questions. Found this linkfor the 2.0 to 2.4 swap http://neon-owners.org/neon/tech/how...ion_parts.html

Anyways, Thats the main part of my question answered. Still wondering about doing a straight engine swap. Seems pretty straightforward. That almost certainly means there are potential complications. Since the straight swap is what I am going to probably be doing, any pointers are appreciated.

not sure where your located, but in the 2ndgen secion, there is a place in PA that does a complete swap for like 5500 over a weekend. or if your a shadetree mechanic, you could probalby do it yourself with the purchase of a good donor car. but you would be lookin at several thousand there.

as for replacing the 2.0, you can pickup a motor for a couple hundred bucks. just be sure to inspect it carefully!
