V-tech in the 2.0
I am confused about vtech . My first question Do neons come equipped with vtech? and if so, is there a way to controll/set it to the lower rpm range?
I read that dodge was the first to equipp there engines with it but I can't remember the website .Ill try and find it. I origanally thought that the neon motors don't come with vtech ? My car def sounds like it has vtech around 5,000 rpms and kicks in pretty hard around the same time hondas do . Or is that just the power band .

vtech is just the term honda uses for their variable valve timing system. may manufactureres use it but the only vehicles in chryslers line up to ever use variable valve timing is the vehicles that use th new world engine(caliber, compass, patriot, sebring, avenger...).so to make a short answer long. no your neon does not have it, it just hits it's powerband up higher
The sound your hearing is the secondary runners in your intake manifold opening up, effectively doubling the size of your intake runner track...at WOT they are open from 0-3200RPM, then they re-open from 5000-6750RPMs.
Thanks for clearin that up. I knew the neons didnt have it I was just thinking maybe dodge made something similar to it but they didnt untill the new world ecotec engines came out.
Keyword secondary runners thats prolly y I couldnt find the posts . Can we readjust when they open up ?

You could adjust them if you took the control away from the PCM and hooked up a RPM window switch...however, they are set to open, close, and open again at those specific RPM intervals because that is how you get the most performance out of the dual runner intake manifold.
Gotcha. Ill leave that to dodge sounds like a bad idea lol.
I tried postin my profile pic and it said it was uploaded succesfully but i dont see it ?
