Ordered a new stereo
On a 1st gen neon, you pull down the ashtray, pull off the radio surround and unbolt the (2) screws holding the radio in. Unplug the connectors from the back on the radio and you're done.
I have a 2004 NeonSXT and its a little different than 1st gen
remove a/c control *****, just pull them forward and they should come off
Pop out the center 2 AC vents , be careful when you do this, the vanes in them can come out easy, the vanes are easy to put back in, but why add an extra step.
anwyay, after popping out the vents, you will see 2 screws, one behind each vent....remove those, and that will allow you to pull out the trim ring that covers everything else.
once the trim ring is off, there are 4 screws that hold the radio in, unscrew them, and pull out the radio
detach the wiring harness and antenna,
of course installation is just working the same thing backwards

The first thing you should get is some tools that can fit into the crevices on the dashboard. The trim that goes arround the radio and A/C area can be pulled back simply by sliding a screwdriver underneath it only after you release the two screws in the CENTER AC Vents. Yo will need a long skinny phillips screwdriver. Tilt the vents down and shine a light up into them to see the screws. they are rather hard to get to. To make the install easier you can get a trim kit with a wiring harness that just plugs right into the stock wiringconnection, then you can splice into the new radio, the wires are all color coded. The trim kit will let you put a smaller radio in a Din and a half area. Be carefull the plastic can easilly be scarred by high pressure, you can leave gashes and scraches if you arent carefull. Let me know if you got a specific question.
