Default over heating problem with 95 neon

i have a dodge neon and im haveing an overheating problem i replaced the radiator and the thermastat. but it still continues to over heat. it only overheats at idle not while im driving it. and when i turn of the car and turn it back on it goes to normal temp and then a few minutes later it over heats again. but the engine dosent seem to be over heating. im thinking water pump or heat cooling sensor. if anyone can help pleas write back neon421

I'd check the coolant temp sensor.

And even though you replaced the T-stat are you sure you installed it correctly and that it's working properly?

fans kicking in at the right time? possible waterpump, headgasket but the headgasket kinda unlikely if only when idle but always an option mine done that and my head gasket was screwed!

depending on the mileage on it I'd check your water pump--they can go like that--rotor stops spinning. For a fix I have tack welded the rotor to the shaft in two strategic locations and have not had a problem since. I have a pump outta the car done this way that we did as an experiment first. I'll see if I can get pics for you in the next couple weeks but I still haven't bothered to buy a digital camera yet.
