auto tranny question
ok, I'm 16, and I don't have my lisense yet so I can't legally drive, but when my brother brought his 2000 neon SE auto home from college to visit, and sometimes I took his keys, and took his car out to a parking lot near my house, and since it couldn't peel out because of its horrible 3 spd tranny, I would put it into neutral, step on the gas and hold it, then immediately put it in to drive and rrrRRRR!!! It would peel out....haha. And I totally loooved doing this, sometimes I would even put it into reverse, step on the gas a little, put it into neutral, make it rev till redline, then put it into drive....MANNNN...lotttta fun
but anyways what I wanted to know, was that is this really bad for his transmission? cuz a friend of mine told me that this was absolutely HORRIBLE for his transmission...it never made any wierd noises or had problems shifting though...

You should be smacked. If I were your brother I'd do some good 'ol brotherly love beat down on your ***.
Yes, it's EXTREMELY BAD for the transmission. I would not be surprised a few months down the road if he throws his diff pin out the side of the transmission housing. And if it does, he should make you pay for the repair and new tranny.
What you were doing is called a nuetral drop. If you do it once accidentally it's not such a big deal but deliberately doing that to the car is very, very bad for it.
I take it you are also the type of kid who also manually shifts an automatic?
2 things you never do with an automatic.
Nuetral-Drop it and manually shift it.
I hope your brother is on these forums and see this. And you get a good old brotherly beat down.

You are an idiot my friend. I That is about the worst thing you can do to an auto tranny. I agree that your brother should beat the living daylights out of your hide. I can't wait till you jack up your own car.
Netrual Dropping it = Very Tremoundious force on the axels, diffrental, Torque Conveter, and so on. This intial shock it somthing like falling on your arm from about 15 feet, and you bone breaks, something like that, yea.
