I have a 03 SE 2.0l with 92k miles and its been making nasty knocking sound at start up and while driving. The sound is definitly coming from inside the engine. It sound like two metal things hitting each other but, at the sametime it also kinda sound like a really bad HLA. It knocks every few seconds, very loud and the sound stand out from every other noise. Anyone know what might be the problem? Do these have HLA? I've read things about 1st gen but, nothing on 2nd gen.

 

sounds like the timing belt jumped.
