97 SOHC with intake.... backfiring out intake/check engine light
Check engine light says ignition..... ever since I redid the head gasket and new plugs wires, timing belt, water pump, balancer, the works.....
its averaging 15~20mpg(mostly 15-16)... when before it seemed like it was close to 28....
When cold it backfires out of the intake when you try to accel, not even hard...
It does it when hot also, but more so when cold... its pretty random...
What did I mess up? How can I fix it?

BTW its a SOHC automatic if that helps....

sounds like you might have a sensor going out, maybe o2 maybe and i mean slight possibility of knock sensor, if you fogot to reattach it to the block if could do that
