1997 Dodge Neon Help
I was wondering if anyone knows much about doing upgrades to a 1997 Dodge Neon Sport? I was also wondering if you know any magazines that pertain to just Neons, or have a lot to do with Neons. I am just wanting to make my car more high performance, and if anyone knows somethings to do to it I would like to hear back from you...thanks!
Mopar Now is a great magazine for the Neons as well as all newer Mopars. Sport Compact Car magazine has a first generation Neon project car. Here are some great sites for Neon performance and upgrade parts:
www.neonparts.net
www.howellautomotive.com
www.forwardmotioninc.com
www.modernperformance.com
Since it is a Sport I will assume that it is a DOHC. First, if it is a 5-spd., get the Mopar Performance or Iceman(they are the same) cold air induction, it will give you the best cheap and easy performance gains. Next, get the Mopar Performance or the even better A/FX computer. Then upgrade the exhaust(header, high flow cat, muffler, etc.). A huge, but from what I've heard a mildly troublesome to put on, gain is the Indy intake manifold(36 whp gain). After this your looking at the more expensive and time consuming upgrades, such as cams, head work, cam gears, light weight pulleys, clutch or tranny upgrades, turbo, nitrous, etc.
Here is the link to Sport Compact Car magazines Neon project car, they have done up to part 4 but only have up to part 2 online for some unknown reason.
