my dodge neon has given me problems since i got it. i have an auto transmission and have trouble with the gears changing. now when i come to a stop sign or light, it chugs when it first takes off. i just started running rough if anybody has a solution, please tell me. i think it may need a new transmission, but maybe with a flush and fill it might run better.

Welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have the trans serviced, flush, fill and bands. A better place to post neon questions would be in the neon section.

I'd definitely say start with a tranny service. however, if it's been doing it for a long time it's going to need either a rebuild or replacement.

 

Yep, but a $150 service is a good try and most shops will tell you if it is not fixable by doing this, jsut make sure you goto an honest one. If I remember correctly a rebuild is upwards of $1000.

 

i also have a 97 neon SE dohc and the same thing happened to me but i let it go on and on had to get new tranny i got a brand new tranny for 750 i got connections.....but i get mine back today ill let u know how it goes...
