95 Neon keeps cutting out
I have a 95 Neon, SOHC, engine and drivetrain still stock (suspension is Konis and Eibach's). It has this distressing tendency to occasionally just stop. It can be at throttle, at idle, at cruise, it just stops; there is no motor response at all. It will not start for 10 minutes or so, and then starts and runs fine, until it stops again. It does this regardless of air temp, driving conditions, anything I can think of.
New fuel pump was installed (isn't that fun!?!?!) about two thousand miles ago. When it starts back up, I get a code 12 (direct battery input to PCM eas disconnected within the last 50 key on cycles...what the heck is that about?) whenI check it. The battery is also new. There is a sticker next to the PCM which seems to indicate it has been replaced as a part of a factory recall? Car was originally destined for Alaska or Canada, so it's got the daytime running lights, and a factory built in block heater.
Its making me a little crazy driving it, because I never know when it is just going to stop....
