Default New Dodge Neon owner needs help

First off I would like to thank you guys. I have been reading this forum since I bought my 1995 Neon a few weeks ago and most everyone here seems really helpful. I bought this Neon from a dealership here in CO and they didn't do any maintenance on it at all, so I have been fixing little things that were wrong with it. The one last thing I need to fix is a problem that happens kind of sporatically. It was throwing some codes but isn't throwing any now that I have done a little work to it(mostly preventative maint.). My only problem is I will be driving along about 40 mph and keeping the gas pedal at one spot and it will act like I have totally pulled off the gas pedal(sits at or around idle). I have to actually floor it to get the transmission to drop a gear before I can get it to accelerate(atleast I think thats what it is doing). First I thought this was a fuel pump problem but its a brand new fuel pump and filter that has been tested. My second idea is a transmission problem or a torque converter problem but I wanted to see what you guys thought first. I have pretty much done everything to my Jeeps but I look at this thing and I am not real sure where to start. Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

What codes were you throwing? The transmission is a good bet, might need servicing.

Well I had a bunch but I cleaned up the battery and some of the electrical connections and I was left with a 12 and a 21 I believe. Now the 12 would be normal if the battery had been disconnected right? And the 21 is something to do with the alternator if I was looking at the codes right.

Ok I looked around and found the paper I wrote them on. They were 12 21 46 42 41 55. Its not showing a thing now though.

21 02s sensor problem (oxygen sensor), upstream or down stream

41 Generator field not switching properly

42 Fuel pump relay control ckt, Auto shutdown relay control ckt, No ASD relay output voltage at PCM, Fuel level sending unit volts out of range, Fuel level unit No change over miles

46 Charging system voltage too low

I'd replace both the upstream and downstream O2 sensor. Have the altenator and battery tested and replace whichever is bad. I'd make sure your fuel pressure is good and possibly look at the sending unit of the fuel pump or check the fuel pump itself.

Ok I will do that next pay day. This little Neon doesn't get driven to much but I would like it to run half way decent. The fuel pump and fuel filter is brand new and I actually took it back to the dealership to have them test the fuel pump. I think they said it was putting out 55 psi(not positive on that though). Downstream O2 sensor is on the exhaust right? Where is the upstream? Everything I have ever worked on only had one O2 sensor, thats why I ask.

They are both on the exhaust the Downstream O2 sensor is near the cat and the upstream should be around the manifold.
